There are many different places you could live, when moving to the Costa del Sol. I always wondered on what basis do people choose one or another town? Why not Marbella or Calahonda or Malaga?

This is about the best article I have ever read about Brits in Spain. Please read and make sure you don’t become that pathetic.

Almost a ton of cannabis seized from a yacht off Mijas. Seven suspects were taken into custody by National Police
The following is a must read for everybody considering to buy a business in Fuengirola. This article has been written, simply because we are aware that there are many stories in the press, on T.V. or simply repeated in the bar over a drink.
What happens when a city is governed by a woman since the early nighties?
Well, you can see that in Fuengirola, which is at the mercy of Doña Esperanza Oña since the early nineties, I believe.
It comes as no surprises that the council of the city is predominantly female. I wonder if the amount of flowers, in and around public buildings, greenery, easy obtainable opening licences for shoe shops and the heavy restrictions on night clubs and late night venues are in direct relation with the female dominance in our town hall.
Might well be, but maybe not
However I found particularly odd at first , that Fuengirola has, believe it or not, an official “department of equality for women”. (Concejalía para la Igualdad).
When reading this article, play the Miami Vice soundtrack in the background to get in the right mood.
Much has been said and written about corruption in Marbella. We know the city had three consecutive mayors arrested for corruption related to constructions of property developments and money laundering for Russian criminal gangs.
This is so incredible it bears repeating:
In Fuengirola and in Mijas Costa timeshare has always been, in one way or another, part of our daily lives. The Costa del Sol is actually one of the top five timeshare destinations in Europe. There are numerous timeshare resorts along the coast.
Thousands of tourists come every year on a timeshare holiday and thousands of our neighbours work at timeshare resorts or timeshare marketing companies. Therefore an article about the subject appears appropriate for this blog.

I am excited. It is my first trip to Madrid. It is my first time on the Ave high speed train.
We leave Fuengirola station at 08:45 and one hour later we arrive in Malaga to catch the 09.00 high speed train to Madrid. There is security and x-raying of bags. I find this a bit unexpected for a train.
Desalination capacity totalling 124 million m³/year lies ahead for Andalucía, according to a report produced by “Agencia Andaluza del Agua” for the Spanish Environment Minstry.
The report coincides with a call for tenders issued by regional water authority Acuamed for the second desalination plant on the western Costa del Sol at Mijas, near the Fuengirola river. Mijas will produce 55,000 m³/d.
